Easter is going to be eggs-tra special at Whirlowbrook Hall this year as the celebrated hotel and restaurant will be hosting its very own golden Easter egg hunt!
Bookings are now being taken for Sunday 4 April, when mum and dad (with a little help from the kids!) will be able to search the grounds for the golden eggs. Guide maps and clues will be available from the café on the day, which should provide enough information for the golden eggs to be retrieved! The fun begins at 11am and prizes will be awarded to the children who succeed. After the ‘egg adventure’ why not congratulate yourselves with Sunday lunch at Whirlowbrook Hall or continue your journey to The Maynard in Grindleford for a further egg hunt and Sunday lunch in the contemporary restaurant or bar.

Easter eggs and Easter egg hunts have a long history. Originally a pagan festival; early Christians adopted Easter and the egg itself as a symbol of the risen Christ. The decorating of eggs goes back over 2,500 years and the Easter egg hunt itself has a long tradition in England. Originally hard boiled eggs were used, but nowadays the children will be pleased to know that chocolate ones tend to be substituted instead and it’s the chocolate variety that will be used at Whirlowbrook Hall!
