Show me the yummy, mummy!

1st March 2010

With Mother’s Day on the horizon already, why not forget the predictable potted plant this year and treat the best mum in the world to lunch in the picturesque setting of highly acclaimed Peak District hotel and restaurant, The Maynard in Grindleford. With less than a fortnight to go to the big day on Sunday 14 March, now is the time to be booking a family table to ensure mummy gets a yummy treat to remember this year. Book your table today and give your mum the pampered day she deserves!

Each family table booked includes a scrumptious three course Sunday lunch as well as a complimentary gift for each mum on the day, so at just £27.50 per person, there really is no excuse for not giving your mum the best this Mother’s Day.

Philippa Debono, sales and marketing manager at The Maynard and sister venue Whirlowbrook Hall, is looking forward to this years Mothers Day herself: ”After the success of Mother’s Day last year, we are looking forward again to another great occasion. Great food, value and service can be found at The Maynard and the hotel provides the perfect backdrop for Mother’s Day celebrations. We’re looking forward to welcoming our regulars and some new faces and new mums on the day.”

The Maynard has its own unique character and was recently refurbished to become one of the best independent hotels in the Peak District. While the building is over 100 years old, the refurbishment has sought to deliver a contemporary feel that does not detract from the building’s age and grandeur. The two AA rosette restaurant is supervised by head chef Ben Hickinson, ensuring that mum will have a day she will not want to forget. Starters include such delights as ham hock ballontaine or why not try wild mushroom ravioli, with white truffle and parmesan cream. For mains, mum can choose from the traditional roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with all the trimmings, or fish lovers will adore the herb crusted cod, complete with pomentier potatoes and Asian mushy peas!

No Mother’s Day treat would be complete without dessert, and Ben has come up with some puds to die for this year. For the traditionalists, why not try sticky toffee pudding in a butterscotch sauce, or be adventurous and try passion fruit parfait with macadamia not cookie. No list of desserts would be complete without chocolate and the lemongrass, ginger and lime leaf chocolate tart is sure to impress those chocoholic mum’s out there.

The countdown has already begun and with tickets already available, interested parties should book now to avoid disappointment on the one day in the year you don’t want to let mum down! For larger families on Mother’s Day, the Windsor suite is perfect for private dining with stunning views of Derwent Valley whilst enjoying your lunch!

Booking are being taken now and the team at The Maynard can be reached on 01433 630 321.
