New ‘OOH LA LA’ Menu
4th March 2010
Highly acclaimed Peak District restaurant, the two AA rosette Maynard in Grindleford, is announcing all new a la carte menus for lunch and dinner from March 2010, with a range of seasonal dishes to leave even regular diners spoilt for choice and to put some Ooh la la back into local dining!
With lunch prices from just £3 for starters and £6 for mains, there is plenty for everyone to get their teeth into on the new menu. Traditional favourites presented with a distinctive modern twist now take their place by some new signature dishes full of succulence and surprise.
Lunchtime starters like soup of the Day, now sit alongside the sophisticated Confit Duck Rilette, complete with soy glazed figs, so there is something on the a la carte menu to tempt every taste bud. The Maynards mains at lunch include Salmon Fishcake and a mouth watering Braised Belly Pork, with a baked russet apple and black pudding beignet. Desserts are available from just £5 and the comprehensive selection delivers everything from a mouth-watering Lemongrass, Ginger and Lime Leaf Chocolate Tart, to the Banana and Baileys Bavarois Nut Touille.
The a la carte dinner menu is no less impressive and includes delights such as Pan Seared Wood Pigeon with a caramelized onion risotto, or Grilled Sardines with a chilli buttered cous-cous in a tomato, ginger and orange sauce and all from just £6. New main courses on the menu start from £12 and boast rich Roast Gressingham Duck Breast with a parsnip puree, shallot and cashew nut mash, plus a Smoked Haddock Risotto and Rolled Ribeye of Beef for the traditionalists.
With several other equally tempting choices on both the lunch and dinner menus, head chef Ben Hickinson has made sure there is plenty to tempt both regular and new diners alike. With all dishes reasonably priced, eating at one of the few restaurants in the whole of South Yorkshire and north Derbyshire with two AA rosettes has never been so affordable.
Philippa Debono, marketing manager at The Maynard and sister venue Whirlowbrook Hall, said The Maynard is ideal as a stop off for a spot of lunch in the day and is set in the perfect location for that special evening out in the Peak District. The new a la carte menus make March the perfect time to treat yourself and at these prices your pocket will be as happy as your palate! Ben has managed to surpass himself once again with another range of delicious dishes, which are all available now. At these prices, the only question is going to be which to try first? (!)
Following a major hotel and restaurant refurbishment two years ago, The Maynard has been transformed, with a contemporary, yet classic interior that compliments the Victorian building to perfection. Menus at The Maynard now reflect the more modern feel of the décor, and these new a la carte lunch and evening menus form part of Bens ongoing programme of ensuring the restaurant remains at the forefront of the latest culinary tastes, without compromising on quality.
