Bluebell Wood

Throughout March the chocolate explosion sat on reception being looked after (and NOT eaten) by our receptionist, Charlotte. Customers visiting the hotel paid a pound to pick a number from the grid and the winner was announced on Easter Sunday; The Maynard’s chocolate explosion, very kindly sent by Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice raised £48.00.

Our Operations Manager, Hugh, took part in the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday 8th April 2018 in support of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. He managed to raise a very impressive £820.91 and completed the half marathon quicker than the time he had set!

Throughout April the Bear sat in the Bar area helping our Front of House staff. Customers visiting the hotel paid a pound to guess the name of the Bear from a grid and the winner was announced on Sunday 29th April; The name claim Bear was called Alex and raised £34.00!

On Monday 21st May, some of the team took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks, a 24.5 mile challenge which includes 5200ft of ascent and 3 of Yorkshires highest peaks; Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The team managed to complete the route in 12 hours and raised an amazing £1229.75 for Bluebell Wood! A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported The Maynard through this tough challenge!

Following the success of last year’s event, The Maynard hosted another Ladies Night on Friday 15th June. The evening included a 2 course dinner with tea & coffee, a fashion show courtesy of Izzi of Baslow, a raffle and plenty of shopping time with our handpicked stallholders! The evening was a great success and the total raised was £1412.50 including ticket and raffle sales. 100% of the proceeds were donated to Bluebell Wood.

On Sunday 8th July, The Maynard held a Family Fun Day! The burgers sizzled on the BBQ and the Pimms flowed; as well as entertainment for the children including a children’s entertainer, a bouncy castle slide, balloon modelling, giant garden games, a face painter and a raffle. Our raffle raised £35.00 which was donated to Bluebell Wood!

On Friday 5th October our guests put their wine knowledge to the test and delved deeper into the bottles they love! With a glass of fizz on arrival, 6 further wines to taste, cheese & biscuits and a raffle – The Maynard raised £496.00 which was donated to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice!

This year the proceeds from all 5 of our Brass Band evening raffles will be donated to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. A huge £267.75 was raised!
