Right on the doorstep is Froggatt Edge and the beautiful Longshaw Estate. Short drives from the hotel can take you to Mam Tor or the Kinder Scout moorlands. As well as famous Derbyshire attractions such as the idyllic, world renowned Chatsworth House, The Monsal Trail and Castleton’s amazing caverns, including Blue John.

AUSTRALIAN CRICKET TEAM

Visitors can browse the memorabilia and pictures displayed in our bar, from the era when The Maynard welcomed the Australian national Cricket Team. Including the great Don Bradman himself on a number of occasions!

Take a look at the team who broke records and captured the nation’s hearts during 1938. Despite the international tensions of the Second World War looming, the English weather and a team depleted by injuries, the Australians still managed to retain the Ashes trophy. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to welcome a team which comprised some of the best known and most successful cricketers of all time.
